I’ve just started a Patreon!
For those of you who don’t know about Patreon, think of it as an ongoing Kickstarter; a throwback to the days when patrons supported the arts. Instead of pledging once, you pledge a monthly amount – $2, $20, whatever you want – and that money goes to support my various projects and expenses. In return, you get perks, depending on the pledge amount: a monthly newsletter with original microfiction, writing prompts, and updates, access to early drafts, even critiques.
One of the hardest things about my current situation – a patched-together income stream of adjunct teaching, freelance writing, and some grant money – is that my income is wildly variable, which is very frustrating for a planner like me. It’s hard to plan, cover bills, and travel to events when I’m never exactly certain how much money I’ll make in a month, or when I know I have income coming later in the year but not immediately. I’m hoping that the Patreon will give me more of a regular base of income, particularly during the summer months when I don’t receive any adjunct pay.
So if you like my work and believe in my projects, and you’re able, please consider supporting me through Patreon. Thank you!
