Two exciting bits of news from last week! First, Sofia Samatar wrote a beautiful, insightful essay about my fiction for Los Angeles Review of Books: “Double Take.”
“Machado’s work doesn’t just have form, it takes form. Hers is a greedy oeuvre… in [her] stories, form is uncanny, sly, a pool of raindrops, a slightly skewed face in the mirror. We’ve seen it all before, but never quite like this.”
Second, my unpublished short story collection Her Body and Other Parties has just received the 2015 – 2016 Michener-Copernicus Fellowship. Thank you to the jurors and the Copernicus Society of America for this opportunity; I’m so happy, and I can’t wait to finish up my book.
