The CINTAS Foundation Fellowship

I just received word that I’m a finalist for the 2013 – 2014 CINTAS Foundation Fellowship, alongside fellow Iowa alum (and friend) Daniel Castro. The fellowship, which is given across many disciplines, is for artists of Cuban descent.

From the press release: The jury this year was “Joslyn Almeida-Beveridge, assistant professor at the University of Massachusetts Amherst with a focus on Latin America and the Caribbean, Sandra Castillo, a creative writing professor at Miami Dade College, and Emily Maguire, associate professor at Northwestern University specializing in modern Latin American literature and culture, with a focus on the Hispanic Caribbean.”

The winners will be announced at a ceremony this evening in Miami, though I won’t be able to attend. Best of luck to Daniel and the other finalists in music and the visual arts!
